06-04-09 – The bleeding heart dies on valentines… death. / *grinds to a halt*
Okay! What’s happened these last few days then?
I’ve…
- Had a very productive YAWA Sunday with Kieran
- Compiled and uploaded a YAWA Video Blog
- Done some editing from the YAWA photoshoot
- Failed a module at uni =/
- Done a tiny bit more of my FYP (It’s a start…)
- Was given some total lolcat-to-be kittehs to spice up this blog!

Obviously trying to light the hob with his laservision there… It is a hob, right? I’m no expert. Cheers again, Carnie!
I’ll save the other kitteh for next week ^^
YAWA Sunday!
My buddy Kieran and I were muchos productive this sunday! According to us we are 100% happy with the songs on the EP (now we need Zak’s approval (still) and the artwork (I wish I had taught myself to draw while I was at school instead of wasting my time with homework)) which is ace, we recorded the guitar to a new song (There were like 21 guitar tracks at least by the end of it) which is sounding PAINFUL!
(in a good way, obvs.)
We also spent a good deal of time just chilling and talking about things that should probably not be talked about. As buddies do.
Where’s Zak… and Jamie?
Zak didn’t turn up on Sunday (We later found out he was ill – though he didn’t think to tell us…) and neither did Jamie (Because he was in Leicester for some reason, no explanation than that…) but I have compiled some footage of when they *were* here into this novel little video blog!
In it you can hear one of the new songs we’ve been working on! And also see some random green screenery hehe
Props to Scratch for doing some videoage and Eamon for some photoage! I said last week I’d try a vid blog, this’ll do ’til I can think of one for myself
*shops some photos*
Yeah I tried my hand at a bit of photo editing from the YAWA photoshoot – check it out!

Snazzy, huh? Has a subtle yellowness which I think gives a cool kinda feel to it.
OLG = fail.
At uni this friday I checked my emails for the first time in ages (I don’t check my uni emails much) and found that the demoing for the assignments for my “on-line games” module was that day. Crap. I then decided to look at when the assignment hand in was. The day before. Crap. I just failed my first module ever… in fact, I’ve never missed anything like that since starting school. I think it just goes to show how demoralisingly uncaring and disorganised my uni has made me with regards to my education. I actually really just don’t care.
I was thinking after that… what would I do if I didn’t get a degree? And came to the conclusion that it’d be probably exactly the same as if I did. I’d try to make a from scratch somehow. I don’t *want* to work for someone else. There’s an excitement of building something big from nothing that you can’t get from a 9-5 job. I want risk in my life. Lots of it.
Though lately I’ve been pretty lethargic in general. I occasionally get a bit of inspiration, like I’ll think “Hey, I could turn boyinaband into something huge if I did this” or “That’s a cool idea I could add into my book” but when it comes to actually putting the idea into action, where I would normally force myself to plough ahead until I was excited about it and didn’t need to work for the motivation and it just comes naturally, I just don’t have that initial motivation and I stop.
I feel like I need someone with the same state of mind around that I can help motivate and who can motivate me. I find it a LOT easier to categorise and sort out what other people need to do to achieve their goals than to do that for myself. I’ve tried pacts like that before but it hasn’t worked ’cause the other people are too busy with other aspects of their life or don’t like things being quite as regimented as I do.
Civ IV strikes again!
Haha, in order to try and motivate myself again, I playing a game of Civ IV with Scratch… which actually did get some more stuff written in my Final Year Project assignment xD I love the logic that playing games helps my productivity.
Next Week on Dave’s Blog
Short week this week, but next week I’ll be reporting on a gig in Barrow-in-Furness (haven’t been there in aeons!) as well as a day of hanging out with *dun dun duuuuuun* Threadz! Who is coming up for a short stay in Telfordio. I’ll have to record enough content for him to last probably another year xD I’ll see what I can do!
Sprint wise I am definately failing. I spent an hour rigging the 3D body until I found that something I messed up RIGHT at the start meant I had to start again and BLAM, all motivation left me. I didn’t look at the game or do the Interasite thing. I did the YAWA work though, so that’s something
I guess I prefer doing things that other people are waiting on.
This week will entail:
- A gig in Barrow!
- Recording a years worth of Threadz!
- I actually can’t think straight enough to finish this list.
- Damn.
AND THE BLOGLY QUESTION: What job would you do if you couldn’t get a conventional job with your educational certificates?
