24-08-09 – 22 and STILL Crunking! / I’m UP in this Jazz Club!

So! A Quick recap of this week… it entailed:

- My Birthday Partay!
- A novel little YAWA gig in London
- Making the Drum and Bass 7 Day Song!
- …Yeah, that 7 day song pretty much took up most of my time.
- Letting the Lolcats have some rest

22!

Yep, I’m officially one year older. My birthday presents included a ridiculously large monitor for my studio PC, Some brilliant T-shirts, some white chocolate brownies (which didn’t last long) and a ticket to see Papa Roach in October!

I also got some amazing cards, such as Kieran’s one with a dog in some flowers, inside which he had written “DOG WITH FLOWERS”. There was also a Hannah Montana one, which is good because I like Hannah Montana.

The party itself began at about 00:00 in the morning, when Pete, Sketch, Kieran, Scratch and I had been busy having a business meeting (which involved muffins and very little business – I’ll sort this out next week I’m sure.) I got my presents (Sketch got me a “Local Celebrity” T-shirt and a cake which resembled Pre-Cretaceous Earth. Kieran got me an official Lil’ Jon T-shirt that said “CRUNK KING”.) We then played games and went to sleep (not together.)

I woke up, opened my monitor and we all piled in the car to go to ASDA for birthday food. £50 of junk food (and some celery) later, we headed back home and about an hour after that I found myself in my living room accompanied by about 12 of my nearest and dearest, kicking each other’s asses and generally having a good time.

It was great – we had the N64 out for some retro goodness (Mario Kart ftw.), the 360 for some FPS action (Halo 3/CoD WoW) and the Wii for general fun times. We also had the dance mat on the go, in which I kinda outclassed everyone, especially my sister, who was really embarrassed and said “David, you are clearly better at the dance mat than I’ll ever be.” Honestly.

We eventually got pizza and went into the back garden where we chatted for hours about important things such as the A-Z of Crunk (AYEEAH, BITCH, CRUNK…) and the meaning of life. Not including the meaning of life.

All in all, a successful birthday. We ended it on watching Zoolander through, a movie I find funny every time I watch it. Mainly ’cause Fred Durst has a cameo in it.

So yes, I’m 22 now and I’m STILL D-A-V-E.

YAWA do London

Imagine YAWA in a small Jazz Club.

That’s what it was like.

People were sitting at tables sipping wine. The tables had dainty little candles on them. Two other acts played, then we went on and by the end of our set, no-one was sipping wine – a dancefloor appeared and they raved, moshed and somehow slow-danced to At Lightspeed (I told them to – it was quite a sight.) It was a fun night, and I can officially say I was UP in that Jazz club with Jazzy Jizzle.

Drum and Bass 7 day song!

This took up the vast majority of my time – Putting together the actual song the week previously, every morning this week entailed me waking up to go on the computer and figure out how to explain to the internet how I made the next part of the song.

Motivation is freakin’ hard, but I managed it – Check out the finished product (Or go to www.boyinaband.com to follow along from the start!):

Pretty Pendulum-y, huh? I like it.

Next Week on Dave’s Blog

This was pretty much taken over by the 7 day song and birthday preparations, so next week will be slightly more varied with…

- Chilling at Kieran’s in preparation for…
- A YAWA show in an American Airbase o_O
- A Businessy Business Meeting
- My Sister Leaving for Japan
- Blogging for primeloops and biab

AND THE BLOGLY QUESTION: …can take a rest too, since I’m way late with this blog anyway. Can’t it?
