25-05-09 – Selfless people still exist?! / Me dot com!
O hai! Productive week!
It entailed:
- My last university presentation ever!
- Ordering the YAWA T-shirts!
- Getting more ill ![]()
- Making a timetable and sticking to it reasonably well!
- An unusually large amount of weird dreams =/
- Getting my blog on for boyinaband.com
- A generous donation O_O
- Buying www.davidpaulbrown.com!
- Another replacement lolcat!

Well… that was worthwhile.
My last ever presentation at uni this week. I prepared a powerpoint thing and everything. When I went in to do it, it turned out my friend ogre had already done his – he was in the same group as me for the speed scheme (what the presentation was on) so I ended up skipping about 3/4 of the presentation because the teacher who was marking it had already heard it. So after about 5 minutes of saying I’d learned how to use Flash, She -literally- licked her finger, held it in the air and said “That’s about 70%”. She admitted she didn’t know what the mark scheme was. This kinda sums up my uni course in one.
Also of university note this week, I got a letter through the post saying I owe the uni £600 for my placement year tuition fees. First of all – I didn’t spend that time at university and I find it hard to believe any admin costs would amount to £600. Secondly, I had successfully applied for my student loan – shouldn’t that have covered it? They’ve now said that I won’t graduate until September as a result of this (So long as I pay). Frickin’ great. I’m so sick of uni.
Giant robots from the future…
I have completed the order for the YAWA T-shirts! Supposedly, they should arrive just in time for the June 5th gig. Which, incidentally, is looking to be an awesome one – I found out from one awesome YAWA girl that she had ticket number 61 – For pre-sales, that’s looking pretty good! It’s also one of the last EVER little civic gigs before they refurbish the place. So if you want to see YAWA at the venue where we got our first real fanbase, this is your last chance!
*Coughs and splutters*
Coughing fits and headaches abound – looks like I’m not as cured as I thought I was. How gay. I hope it goes away soon, there’s little that is more irritating that spontaneously coughing every few minutes.
Every day I’m hustlin’
I made a timetable! Check it out:

I wake up (I’ve named this “hustle” so I can hustle every day.), work on my blog, do something, eat lunch, do something else, then I allow myself free time
Which is where I’ve slipped up in the past. I tend to stop myself from playing games since I get all paranoid that I should be spending my time on something else. But that is all different now – I’ve been kicking ass at a game called “Plants vs. Zombies” which I totally recommend anyone who needs an addictive tower defense-ish game fix.
So yeah, this week I ended up recording some video footage for mine and Scratch’s web series “Pie and Scratch”, working on the Interabang website, mixing some of the new YAWA songs (God I love them so much!), working on my music-to-video piece for my music portfolio (The Final Fantasy XIII Trailer
) and other various things which I’ll explain below!
My sister is dying.
In my dream anyway. She had cancer. I was genuinely upset, it’s horrible when you have dreams that put you through emotional turmoil =/ I should have figured out that it was a dream from the fact that I was also flying around in a UFO. But I guess that is the thing about dreams. There was that dream, one where we had a YAWA practice (Woah, as if that would ever happen in real life!) but realised we had about 3 amps in our practice room that weren’t ours and we couldn’t remember who they belonged to. And the last one I remember involved people having to run across a 6-carriageway busy road in order to get to a shopping center where everyone was having a massive skins-esque party (I’ve never even watched skins, but my head seemed to tell me it was a skins-esque party). Strange times.
I like sportz!
I had several requests to make the beat for “We like sportz” by the lonely island, so I went ahead and did it – check it out:
I also made a free sample pack for crunk beats, and that has now become one of my most popular blogs! I guess people like free stuff.
In fact, I’ve had loads of people this week e-mailing me, thanking me for my work on the website and tutorials, and also a few more who’re asking for made-to-order tutorials! I’m starting to get me a client base
There are selfless people in there world.
One of the people who e-mailed me regarding their appreciation for my website asked if there was any way to donate to the website to help keep it going. Not one to pass up an opportunity, I added a paypal donate button to the site. 30 minutes later, I found myself £50 in pocket. Frickin’ ACE. That actually paid for my hosting. I’m finally in the green with this website project! And all thanks to a random generous American dude. I’m going to make a tutorial video for one of the things he suggested in a later e-mail to thank him for it, since I’m generally not very good at accepting charity with no recompense.
I has me dot com!
Hells yeah! Check it out – www.davidpaulbrown.com. That’s my website. I bought it so I could put these blogs up there too, and also so I can use it as a portfolio for my music and my web designery. If I am to make some serious cash in the next 10 months I need a base of operations for freelance work – and that will be it. The annoying thing is that myspace won’t let you export more than the latest 10 of your blogs into a format for wordpress (Which is what I’ve used to make the website) to read – so I have to manually copy and paste all the blogs from the last year and a half into it =/ Fun times. It’ll be cool to have that collection there though.
Next week on Dave’s Blog…
I’ll hopefully be:
- Having a full YAWA band practice in preparation for the EP release
- Recieving a bunch of YAWA Merch! ![]()
- Posting 6 new blogs on boyinaband.com
- Starting work on some paid video tutorials
- Helping Scratch start up his blog www.dudeinadrama.com (We thought it’d be cool to have a theme going on ^^)
- Making davidpaulbrown.com look nice ![]()
- Sticking to my timetable
- Playing some games!
AND THE BLOGLY QUESTION: What is the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
