He is clearly the navigator.

It was a LION!

What a freakin’ eventful day.

It started with Zak, Eamon and Jamie arriving. Jamie’s face was scratched up from having come accropper on his friend’s moped earlier in the week. We loaded the gear into the van and then Kieran arrived. Jamie, without flinching, told him the scratches were from a lion – he had been feeding a lion at Leicester zoo and it had promptly slapped him in the face as a result. Kieran, being the trusting little Christian that he is, believed every word, bless him.

We had a fun van ride there, singing along to nu metal songs, and when we got up to Kendal we called Kyra to see what was going on. Apparently their drummer had swine flu. For a while we wondered whether they would do the gig at all, and since they’d said we could borrow their guitar amp and drumkit we would have been screwed, but fortunately they came down with the gear anyway.

The venue was small but cool – I knew when I saw it that if it got packed then it’d be amazing.

When they arrived, pleasentries were exchanged with Kyra (we actually get on well with them, which is nice) and we soundchecked. Kyra had put together a 3 song stripped down set for the night which was actually really cool and restful. A little different to their normal shows.

Then we went on.

People were raving on tables, lazers and fog everywhere, and in general everyone was going crazy. I got Kyra’s singer to do some guest “This is the end of the world”s, and did plenty of running around the place.

Part way through the gig the set turned into stand up comedy, which ended up in Jamie revealing, whilst everyone’s attention was on him, that we’d been blagging Kieran about the lion thing all day, just after he’d told the crowd about Jamie’s imaginary zoo escapade. Everyone burst out laughing and poor kieran was left realising that he should never trust his friends.

We finished the show as strongly as we started, everyone jumping about on stage, on tables and on each other. A jolly time was had by all. Jamie managed to smack Kieran in the head later on with his bass too – on camera. Look forward to that in the July video blog. We sold some merch and we got another gig offered to us on February 20th by the sound guy who said it was one of the best gigs he’s ever had the pleasure of doing. We made new fans too, as well as meeting ones who’d been fans since mobileAct (which is still awesome!)

We ended on the obligatory Zak-punching-people-in-the-nads game that he enjoys so much when Kyra are about (Be afraid, guys) causing crotch-covery photos like this one:

…and then set off home. As if Kieran hadn’t endured enough, when the poor, exhausted guy fell asleep in the back, Zak got everyone’s attention and counted down on his fingers 3…2…1… AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! And he woke up screaming and swearing because he thought something terrible had happened. I’m so glad he’s in the band.

Bruno

I don’t think I can bring myself to say much about this film – I’ll say that it was like a horror, in that it’s not enjoyable, but that’s why you have to watch it. There were some freakin’ hilarious bits, but for the most part it was unequivocally the gayest thing I have ever experienced in my life.

Graphics girl!

http://www.graphicsgirl.co.uk – My 4’8″ homegirl Emmie graced me with her presence this week, enough for us to design and build her website! I suggested that she make it a blog and post tutorials like me, since I was starting to earn money and money is a nice thing to have; she seemed really into the idea! So check that out and look out for blogs about photoshop and art on there in future! :)

Guy with a guitar!

http://www.guywithaguitar.com – Not one to be left out, Kieran jumped on the bloggy bandwagon and I designed and built his website with him! It’ll be guitar themed tutorials and blogs, in a similar vein to Jamie’s boywithabass. I look forward to seeing what he does with it! :D

Dude in a drama!

http://www.dudeinadrama.com – Scratch’s blog on film and video editing/special effects has started growing more lately, and he wanted to get his site matching with the others I’d been making (I’ve kept a consistant layout so they all kinda fit in together) so I helped him sort that out too. Good week for blogs!

Sexy Electro?!

It’s all about the Sexy Electro this week on boyinaband! </blog writing mode> I’ve made some cool blogs on Electro House, a genre I freakin’ love, and a spanking new video blog featuring Kieran’s laptop! Check it out…

I’m so business-y!

Ben from Primeloops gave me a call this week – the first time I’d spoken to him on the phone. He seems like a nice guy! But yes, after discussing the weather (I felt so British), we moved on to buisiness – I’m now in an agreement to blog 8 times a month for the primeloops.com blog in exchange for doubling my advertising rate! :D Not too shabby, and he said the longer we work together the more monies I shall recieve. Which is always nice to hear.

If that wasn’t enough, he also asked for 5 mp3s of songs I’d composed to put me forward for possibly making examples of sample packs for them… at quite a nice rate. Let’s just say a PS3 wouldn’t be out of the question. So things are looking good for my bank account again!

Intera’s back! (nearly!)

Check it out:

Scratch edited together a collection of footage of himself, myself and sciself informing you of the latest Interabang news, what has been happening and what will happen!

There is also a part two coming out mid week so stay tuned for that!

YAWA Video Blog

This has been possibly a life changing week for YAWA, but similar to when I first heard about the babycakes thing, I can’t explain more than that just now. Suffice to say I’ll get my hopes up really high so that when everything inevitably amounts to nothing I’ll feel extra disappointed! Yay!

But yes, in other news I’ve been watching through the hours and hours of footage from all the July gigs that Eamon has recorded, ready to put it into one 10 minute video. There’s so much hilarious stuff I don’t know how I’ll do it. It’s great having such a good record of events though!

Happy Birthday Hannah!

See? I didn’t forget… She got a new laptop and bought the Sims 3 for it. I also made a harry potter rap song with her and Scratch in the evening which is actually freakin’ hilarious. She’s started working on drawings for a flash animation to accompany it, so that’s now on the ever-increasing to do list. But it’s seriously funny, so it’s worth it. We’ll probably release it under Interabang’s name.

Next Week on Dave’s Blog…

Well there are some exciting things happening this week that I can’t say, but I can it will involve…

- Gigging in Daventry
- Doing my first comissioned blogs for primeloops
- Blogging about G Funk on boyinaband.com
- Making some new tutorial videos
- Hopefully Hanging out with my homegirls Emmie and Kirstie
- Uh… oh yeah, The Interabang Release!!! :D

AND THE BLOGLY QUESTION:
Which do you prefer in general and why out of: Songs, videos, flash animations, games or comics?
