29-06-09 – How the Mighty Have Fallen / Dreams can come true

Alrighty! Let’s see what I accomplished this week. I…

- Had the most unusual and useful dream o_O
- Wrote 8 blogs on boyinaband.com
- Wrote and recorded a new song for Trikkaan!
- Made a video tutorial
- Finished a new Interabang song
- Finished the structure to a new YAWA song and wrote an idea for another new one
- Almost finished Hot Girl Discount’s first song …and plot.
- Finished designing and implementing davidpaulbrown.com’s layout
- Hand picked this lolcat:

Minimalism win.

Pah! I could do it in my sleep…

I had a dream mid-week where there was this song on all the radio stations and it was a number 1 hit, really catchy and pacey. There were also some aliens, but I won’t go into that part of the dream. Anyway, I woke up and I realised that could remember the song – I’d actually composed a song in my sleep. I went down to my studio and recorded what I remembered of it. It’s called “The Rain” – I think it might suit YAWA best. How ace is that though? I don’t even need to work to get my ideas any more!

All Glitch Hop’d up!

I successfully made 8 blogs this week, 6 of which were related the genre “Glitch Hop”, which is this awesome stutter hip hop offshoot – check out www.boyinaband.com for more info on it :)

How the Mighty Have Fallen

For a part of my glitch hop week, I reviewed a sample pack given to me by primeloops, in doing so I made a song – I liked the beat so much that I turned it into a Trikkaan song. It’s called “How the Mighty Have Fallen”. Check it out:

The title isn’t anything to do with MJ in case you were wondering, though I am really sad he’s dead. I used to listen to him so often as a kid, I bet that is where I began my eclectic musical taste since he did so many different genres. I won’t go into a massive MJ eulogy, but I’ll just say his music and dancing was ace, his videos were awesome and he was frickin’ cool.

VERSATILE SOUND!

I also made a tutorial for stuttering vocals with this funny little reggae vocal sample, this is where I made the initial beat for How the Mighty Have Fallen too.

I don’t get why it’s not the future yet…

I finished a new Interabang song this week, it’s called “I’m actually irritated that we don’t have robot maids yet” and it’s all futuristic-y. It’s possibly my new favourite Interabang song. Funky-Dance-Pop-Rap-Rock-Trance. Can’t wait to show you.

Haven’t got around to setting up the countdown to Intera’s release yet, but Sci and I did write a plot for a new manga series which is actually hilarious. She’s started work on the artwork for that, it’s looking awesome, I sometimes forget that she’s actually a very talented artist.

Okay so they find the ultimate power… THEN THE WORLD IS SPLIT IN HALF!

Yeah, Jamie and I were thinking up song concepts again. It worked though, the song we’ve written (At the moment titled “Nebula”) is so frickin’ cool it’s difficult to concieve it, with an absolutely goosebump-inducingly gorgeous trance outro. I love my band, we make my favourite music.

I also couldn’t sleep one night and made another gorgeous trance song. I could see it being turned into a single similar to Watch Me Fly, though I want it to have more rap (WMF is a very Kieran-centric song, which is ace, but my ego needs to balance it with an equivalant song of my own. Since I don’t rap enough already.)

Hot Girl Discount the Documentary?!

Well now I have the song almost finished, I also came up with some ideas for a project I want to run along side the music – I want to make a Spinal-Tap-esque series in which a documentary film crew follow the creation of Hot Girl Discount and then follow them through their boyband-y adventures! I’ve got so many ideas, including maybe getting Eamon as a slimeball manager (Yeah, Eamon – you up for being a slimeball manager?) and it’s another project I’ve added to my list of things to do!

*hugs css*

I’ve finished my first theme for my personal portfolio davidpaulbrown.com (which you may or may not be reading this on.) – if not, check it out! It’s all spacey and clean :) It relaxes me.

Next Week on Dave’s Blog

I’m not quite as on top of things for next week since Scratch went home (I get so much more done with him around) but there are a few things I know I want to achieve:

- Much more bloggage on boyinaband
- Looking into a “Seven Day Song” tutorial idea I’ve had for biab (I’ll tell you more next week)
- More dreams that give me ace song ideas
- The first YAWA gig in a while at Kettering Open Air Festival
- Make a YAWA blog update
- Convince Scratch to come down again so I can be productive once more!

AND THE BLOGLY QUESTION:
What was your favourite MJ song? I have to say mine was probably Beat it, though special mentions would go out to Remember the Time, Black or White, Leave me alone and Scream.

Wondering if I’m the only one reading your blog on here…. :P

I now have no need for Myspace :P

Blogly Question: Man in the Mirror, although Thriller, Black or White and Earth Song were also very good

how in the heck do you have so many blogs? I’d go crazy. Livejournal is enough for me.

Good work on the WordPress theme design. You’re getting better at it. Not as good as me, haha, not yet anyway – but these things take time.

I’m happy to hear so much is going on for you at the moment and that you’re starting to get somewhere with your online endeavours – I am too which is great.

Remember the Time has been my favorite Michael Jackson song ever since I was little. Ironically these days it has more of a meaning for me..

    Keep keeping it up.
